The most Beautiful Prayer

The most beautiful prayer is to be still; to be silent at His Presence and to know that He is God. The real prayer is to listen to the speaking Voice of the Lord through His Word. The Word of God is a speaking book through which God still speaks. Looking at the way how some saints perceived prayer is edifying.
1. A news Reporter once asked Mother Theresa about her prayer life, “Mother Teresa, When you pray, what do you ask God?” Mother Teresa replied, “I ask Him for nothing.” He said, what then do you do when you say you pray. She said I listen when I pray. He got confused and asked, “Ah, if you only listen while you pray, what then does God do when you listen?” Mother Teresa replied, “He listens too. Two hearts listening to each other with no words.” There was a long silence.
2. “They tell me Lord, that when I pray,
Only one voice is heard;
That I’m dreaming,
You’re not there,
This whole thing is absurd.
Maybe they’re right, Lord,
Maybe they’re right.
Maybe there’s only one voice that’s heard.
But if there’s only one voice that’s heard,
Lord, it’s not mine, it’s your voice.
I’m not dreaming; you are the dreamer.
And I am your dream
CS Lewis, in Letters to Malcolm Chiefly on Prayer,
3. John Knox was a man of prayers. As Knox prayed, his spirit went Home to be with the Lord. The man of whom Queen Mary had said, “I fear his prayers more than I do the armies of my enemies,” ministered through prayer until the moment of his death.
